What is a self-drive?

A self-drive is a trip where you rent and drive a car yourself, rather than being driven by someone else. We take care of booking your rental car, accommodations and any other extra activities. We will provide you with all the necessary documents you may need during your trip and with a phone number you can contact in case of emergency.

What type of accommodations can you book for me?

Iceland offers a surprisingly wide range of different accommodations in comparison to the size of the country: the most economical of them all and the fewer amount of them are Youth Hostels, where you sleep in a bunkbed in a room with other people and where facilities are also shared.

Next we have what is called Guesthouses where you have a private room and you share the facilities. And finally, you can go for Hotels where you have a private room and private facilities. All of the accommodations are booked with Breakfast included, when available.

For 4×4 itineraries in the Highlands, camping and sleeping in Huts are also options. For more information regarding this please contact us.

One of the greatest advantages of choosing a self-drive in Iceland is the freedom to include unique activities along the way. Many travelers decide to add a glacier walk tour Iceland to their itinerary, experiencing the thrill of walking on ancient ice guided by certified experts. If your trip takes place during the northern light Iceland season (late September to early April), you can also plan evenings dedicated to chasing the auroras. Combining the flexibility of a self-drive with these once-in-a-lifetime adventures ensures your journey around Iceland is both personal and unforgettable.
